Travel RN - Med Surg

Location: Nashville, Tennessee

Unit Information

• Unit: 7th Floor, Trauma Med/Surg
• Number of Beds: 34
• Patient Ratios: 6:1
• Staffing Support: Tech support available on day and night shifts; Unit secretary from 7am-7pm
• Equipment Used: IV Pumps, Telemetry, SCDs, Continuous Pulse Oximetry, Feeding Pumps, PCA, EKG machines, bladder scanner, iMobile communication technology
• Documentation System: Meditech
• Scheduling: 3 twelve-hour shifts per week; 2 weekends (4 shifts) per 4-week schedule
• Floating Policy: Contract labor floats first, rotation used when multiple contract staff scheduled
• Patient Experience: Emphasis on attentive, compassionate care; bedside shift report; personal connections with patients and family involvement in care planning

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Tennessee
• BLS certification
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg nursing experience

Skills and Experience

• Med/Surg experience required
• Ability to prioritize care and multitask
• Competent in starting IVs, basic wound care
• Experience with maintenance of surgical drains, nasogastric tubes, and chest tubes

Schedule and Dress Code

• Schedule: 3 twelve-hour shifts per week, including 2 weekends per 4-week period
• Dress Code: Navy scrubs (tops and bottoms)

Additional Notes

• The unit is part of a Level II Trauma Center with Comprehensive Stroke and Certified Chest Pain Center designations
• Tech support and unit secretary available to assist nursing staff
• Emphasis on teamwork and patient-centered care
