Job Opportunity: Pediatric OR Registered Nurse

Location: New Brunswick, New Jersey
Employment Type: Travel/Contract

Job Description

  • Pediatric Operating Room nurse role requiring both scrubbing and circulating.
  • Types of cases include general surgery, urology, orthopedic, neurosurgery, ophthalmology, advanced ENT, and spine surgeries.
  • Must be able to scrub and circulate during procedures.
  • Scrubs provided.
  • Weekends required.
  • No on-call duties.
  • Block scheduling requests must be included and approved with submission.
  • Local candidates accepted.

Required Experience

  • Minimum 1.5 years of experience in specialty (Pediatric OR nursing).

Required Certifications & Licenses

  • RN license valid in New Jersey.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification required.
  • CNOR (Certified Nurse Operating Room) preferred but not required.

Additional Required Certifications (as applicable)

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) is not required for Pediatric OR.
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) is not required for Pediatric OR.
  • Chemotherapy certification is not required for Pediatric OR.
  • Other certifications such as NIH Stroke Certification, Management of Assaultive Behavior, or specialized CEUs are not applicable unless specified by the facility.

Prior Travel Experience

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Background check within 30 days of start, including criminal, MVR/DMV, sex offender, and alias searches.
  • Drug screen within 30 days of start (10-panel urine drug screen).

  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within required timeframes.
  • Immunization and titer documentation required for:
    • Measles (Rubeola)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Varicella
    • Hepatitis B
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Influenza vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually during flu season.
  • Fit test and respiratory medical clearance required prior to start.
  • Color blindness exam required only if job tasks require color discrimination (not typically required for Pediatric OR).
  • Completion of facility-specific education and attestations, including annual education sign-off and floating policy.
  • Employment application or resume with 7 years of work history.
  • Two references within the last 2 years, including at least one managerial reference.
  • Work history verification per New Jersey state requirements.

Scheduling & Work Conditions
