Job Opportunity: X-Ray Tech (Radiology / Cardiology)

Location: Charleston, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Details

• Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
• Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM) on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday
• Orientation: First week includes day shifts for orientation before regular night shifts begin
• Call Requirement: On-call rotation 3-4 days per month
• Floating: May float to other buildings on the same campus within scope of practice; no floating to sister facilities
• Daily Caseload: Varies

Experience & Requirements

• Years of Experience Required: Minimum 1 year in specialty
• Travel Experience: Preferred but not required; first-time travelers accepted
• Specific Experience: O/C-Arm experience required
• Certifications/Licenses Required:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC accepted
  • ARRT (R) and SCRQSA (R) certifications accepted
• Radiation Badge: Required and must be supplied by the agency (facility does not provide)
• Radius Rule: 60 miles
• Locals Accepted: Yes, at a reduced rate

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Proof of work eligibility (I-9 attestation and form)
• Copy of Driver’s License/State ID
• Social Security Card or SSN verification
• Background checks including:

  • 7-year history with multiple searches (SSN trace, state, national, sex offender registry, FACIS 3)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks updated every 30 days
• Education verification or diploma/transcripts as placeholder
• Employment application with complete work history and references (2 clinical references required)
• Work history verification for last 3 clinical employers
• Radiation badge process must be initiated before start; badge delivery may take 5-7 days
• Facility-specific orientation modules and first day instructions must be completed before starting
• Clear, passport-style photo for badge required before start

Health & Safety Requirements

• Initial physical exam and annual updates attesting ability to meet job demands
• Fit test for N95 mask within 90 days prior to start, renewed annually
• Immunizations and titers required or proof of vaccination/declination for:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or vaccines with boosters if low/negative)
  • Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
  • Varicella (positive titer or vaccines with boosters if low/negative)
• Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days or chest x-ray if previously positive
• Annual TB questionnaire completion
• 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
• Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Aug-April)
• COVID vaccination highly preferred; declination form required if not vaccinated
• Sterile Processing Techs require additional physical assessment and lab panels (CMP and CBC with differential)

Certifications & Competencies

• ACLS required for certain units (not required for this position)
• BLS required for all clinical staff
• PALS, NRP, CHEMO, TNCC, EFM certifications as applicable to other units (not required for this role)
• Medication/pharmacology competency exam required as applicable
• Color blindness testing required prior to start
• State license verification required (SC license or compact licensure) with primary source verification
• NURSYS verification for RNs/LPNs as applicable
• IV Therapy certification may be required for select LPNs (confirm with team)

Additional Notes

• Candidates cannot start without their radiation badge
• Orientation modules take approximately 2 hours and must be completed on a computer (not mobile)
• Travelers must upload vaccination records and flu documentation into the facility’s system prior to start
• Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
• Floating within the same campus may be required to meet facility needs

This position is ideal for X-Ray Techs with at least 1 year of experience, including O/C-Arm experience, who are comfortable working night shifts and participating in on-call rotations. Prior travel experience is preferred but not mandatory. Compliance with all health, safety, and credentialing requirements is essential.
