Job Opportunity: Radiation Therapist

Location: Peoria, Illinois

Job Description

• Assist with daily patient flow in Radiation Oncology clinical location
• Evaluate and develop new processes for patient care
• Assist physicians by treating patients with prescribed doses of ionizing radiation using specialized radiation equipment
• Prepare treatment room, explain procedures to patients, position patients, and administer treatments
• Monitor patients during therapy sessions to ensure comfort and observe condition changes
• Simulate patient treatment according to treatment plan and deliver prescribed radiation doses
• Design and construct custom treatment devices for individual patients
• Provide patient care appropriate to the ages of patients served

Required Qualifications

• Current licensure with Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA) Department of Nuclear Safety
• Registry or registry eligible with ARRT within 6 months of hire
• Completion of a 2-year training program in Radiation Therapy
• Knowledge of radiation therapy procedures, equipment operation, physics, and patient care techniques acquired through an approved radiation therapy technology program
• Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with patients, physicians, allied health personnel, and other medical staff
• Analytical skills to provide accurate care instructions, interpret physicians' prescriptions, and replicate treatment plans

Schedule

• Shift: 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
