Description
Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (MS/Tele)
Location: Easton, Maryland
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 13 weeks)
Shift: Nights, 3x12 hour shifts (19:00-07:30), every other week
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (4 weekends in a 4-week schedule cycle)
Holidays: Required as scheduled
Floating: Required within specialty and lower acuity units, including occasional float to sister facility (rare)
On-Call: Not required
Unit Details:
- Observation unit with quick patient turnover
- 30 beds, average daily census 28
- Patient diagnoses include chest pain, abdominal pain, UTI, renal issues (peritoneal dialysis on unit), trauma/orthopedics
- RNs responsible for clamping/unclamping and documentation of peritoneal dialysis exchanges (dialysis nurses initiate exchanges)
- Nurse-to-patient ratio approximately 1:5-6 (lower acuity)
- Scrub color: Royal blue
Required Qualifications
- License: Maryland Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Certification
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) – to be completed prior to orientation
- Experience: Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
- Prior Travel Experience: Not required; first-time travelers accepted
Additional Requirements
- Background checks including 7-year criminal search, education verification, and various federal/state screenings
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Negative drug screen (9 or 10 panel depending on facility) within 30-90 days of start
- Immunizations and titers required or documented declinations for:
- TB test or chest X-ray (updated annually)
- Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (declinations not accepted)
- Hepatitis B (positive titer or declination accepted)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccines or positive titers
- Varicella vaccine or positive titer
- TDaP vaccine within 10 years or signed declination
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start (N95 or equivalent)
- Two supervisory references within 1 year
- Verification of at least 2 years hospital or equivalent acute care experience within last 5 years
- Completion of competency exams including medication/pharmacology, dysrhythmia/EKG, and age-specific competencies (passing score 80% or higher)
- Photo for badge (passport style)
- Signed job description and confidentiality agreement prior to start
- Compliance with facility dress code and policies
Orientation
- Held at 8am on Tuesdays at the facility’s School of Nursing
- Dress code: Royal blue scrubs or business casual (scrubs required when on floor)
This position offers a night shift travel nursing opportunity in a specialized observation unit with a focus on telemetry and medical-surgical care. The role requires flexibility for floating within the specialty and adherence to strict compliance and credentialing standards.
