Job Opportunity: EEG Tech (Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics)
Location: Portland, Oregon
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 16 weeks
Job Overview
- Position floats between units.
- On-call required: Yes, rotating weekday and weekend call (2-4 weekdays/month, 1 weekend every 6 weeks).
- Weekend shifts required approximately 1 weekend every 6 weeks.
- Block schedules required.
- Patient ratio: 1:1.
- On-call shifts start at 4pm and end at 7am; pagers off at 9pm except neurologist calls.
- EEG techs assigned 3-4 call shifts/month, called in about 50% of the time.
- Post-call time off allowed without using PTO.

Required Qualifications
- Specialty: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics (EEG Tech)
- Years of experience: Not explicitly stated; assume minimum 2 years typical for EEG Tech roles unless otherwise specified.

- Licensure: Relevant EEG Tech certification/license as per Oregon state requirements.

Work Requirements
- Must be able to float between units.
- Must participate in on-call rotation including weekends.
- Ability to work block schedules.
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Background check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years.
- Drug screen: 10 panel within 90 days of start (no instant tests).
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO.
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually.
- Flu vaccine or declination during flu season.
- COVID vaccine or declination.
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years or declination.
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer.
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer.
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination.
- Respirator clearance (RespSafety) required annually for travel staff.
- References: Minimum 2 references covering 1 year of employment within last 3 years in comparable specialty/setting.
- Employment application covering at least last 5 years.
- Skills checklist and competency exams as applicable.
Training and Modules
- Completion of Providence Health and Services WorkRamp modules required prior to start, including:
- Annual regulatory requirements.
- Specialty-specific modules for EEG Tech/Neuro Diagnostics.
- Facility-specific and regional modules as assigned.
- Epic training modules (completion required prior to moving to productive work).
- Badge photo required for ID badge.
Additional Notes
- Float policy acknowledgment required (may be required to float to other Providence facilities nearby).
- On-call shifts are compensated with minimum hours and call-back incentives.
- No 48-hour workweek approval.
This position is ideal for EEG Techs with experience in neuro diagnostics who are comfortable with floating, on-call rotations, and working in a teaching hospital environment using Epic.
