Job Opportunity: MRI Tech

Location: Florence, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
  • Shift: 3 shifts of 12 hours each, Friday through Sunday
    • Friday: 10 AM – 10 PM
    • Saturday & Sunday: 9 AM – 9 PM
  • Weekend Requirement: Yes
  • On-call: Some on-call required
  • Floating: No floating between units or facilities

Required Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum 3 years in specialty (MRI Tech)
  • Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or ARC only
    • ARRT (MR) or ARMRIT certification
  • Equipment Experience: Philips Ingenuity MRI system
  • Radiation Badge: Not required for MRI Techs
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required

  • Hurricane Season: Travelers may be assigned to emergency response teams during June-November (peak in August-September). New or extended assignments during this time should be considered carefully.

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Background Checks:
    • Annual background check covering last 7 years of residence/work
    • Includes SSN trace, state and national criminal checks, sex offender registry, FACIS 3, international searches
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
  • Licensure:
    • Primary source verification of ARRT or ARMRIT certification
  • Health Requirements:
    • Physical exam updated annually, attesting ability to meet job demands
    • Immunizations and titers:
      • Tdap within 10 years or declination form
      • Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold within 90 days) or chest X-ray if positive
      • Measles, Mumps, Rubella: positive titer or 2 vaccines (boosters if low titer)
      • Hepatitis B: titer, vaccine series, or declination
      • Varicella: positive titer or 2 vaccines (boosters if low titer)
    • Drug screen: 10-panel urine drug test within 90 days of start
    • COVID-19 vaccination: Not required but highly preferred; vaccination records must be uploaded or declination form completed
  • Certifications:
    • ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM certifications as required by unit/job description (confirm specifics with recruiter)
  • Competency Exams: Medication and general competency exams as applicable
  • References: Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
  • Performance Evaluation: Must be dated within 12 months of start
  • Employment History: Verification of last 3 clinical employers (exceptions apply)

Orientation & Facility Specifics

  • Completion of orientation modules (approx. 4 hours) prior to start is mandatory
  • Clear, passport-style photo required for badge
  • Signed agreements including assignment acknowledgment, code of conduct, confidentiality, HR policies, and system user agreements required before start
  • Facility uses a platform called "OurDay" for uploading vaccination and flu documentation
  • Flu vaccine required during flu season (Aug 1 – Apr 30), with medical/religious exemptions accepted (no declinations)

Additional Notes

  • Block scheduling may be requested but is not guaranteed
  • Locals are not accepted for this position
  • Radiation badge is not required for MRI Techs at this facility
  • Candidates must be prepared for possible emergency response duties during hurricane season
