Job Opportunity: Med/Surg Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN) - Akron, Ohio
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (Med/Surg Telemetry)
- Location: Akron, Ohio
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
Required Experience
- Minimum of 18 months recent permanent Med/Surg Telemetry experience prior to travel.
- Prior travel experience is NOT explicitly required.
Required Licenses & Certifications
- Ohio RN License or Compact State RN License must be in hand.
- AHA BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
- AHA ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification required.
Required Qualifications & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried on assignment.
- Background checks including FCRA compliant 7-year search, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and fingerprinting (FBI and BCI) are required and must be current.
- Fingerprinting must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing; results must be updated annually.
- Education verification required.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam.
- Fit mask test (N95) within 12 months of start and updated annually.
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (every 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 12 months)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers
- Hepatitis B vaccination or titer
- Varicella vaccination or titer
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption
- Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually.
- References: 2 references from employment within the last year, from a manager, supervisor, or charge nurse.
- Employment application must include 3 years prior work history with at least 2 years in acute care and similar area.
Orientation & Competency Requirements
- Completion of unit-specific competency exams within 12 months of start and updated annually.
- Pass/fail testing for EKG and medication administration during orientation.
- Completion of required online onboarding modules prior to start.
- Annual acknowledgment of safety manual and pass/fail testing.
- Core competency training (Core Part I, II, III) required annually.
Additional Notes
- Candidates must carry a government-issued photo ID at all times.
- Fingerprinting must be done both through the agency and at the facility.
- Candidates can start with fingerprint results pending if fingerprinting is completed prior to start.
- Modules must be completed on a computer using Google Chrome; cannot be completed on a phone.
- Physical exam and eye exam do not need to be updated annually if there is no break in employment at the facility.
- Flu vaccine declinations are not accepted; exemptions require agency and facility approval.
- Candidates must be capable of safely performing essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Drug screens must be standard 10-panel; instant drug screens are not accepted.
This position is ideal for experienced Med/Surg Telemetry RNs with recent acute care experience who hold an active Ohio or compact RN license and are comfortable working night shifts in a travel/contract role.
