Job Opportunity: Emergency Room Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Harvey, Illinois (Rotating between 3 offsite clinics in Flossmoor, Calumet City, and Tinley Park)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse - Emergency Room
- Ratios: 1:4 patient ratio
- Experience Required: Minimum 1 year in specialty

Required Qualifications
- Must have prior experience in an urban, Level I Trauma Emergency Department (Teaching Hospital experience preferred)
- Current RN license valid in Illinois
- Certifications (must be current and from AHA provider or AHA RQI):
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- Preferred Certifications:
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Valid Driver’s License or State ID
- Background checks including 7-year history, aliases, sex offender registry, national and federal criminal checks, education verification, and others as required
- State license primary source verification within 30 days of assignment start
- NURSYS verification for RN license within 30 days of start
- Physical exam within 1 year, updated annually
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start (specific mask models required)
- Immunizations and titers (must be completed within 2 business days of contract signing):
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (if positive TB history)
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (declination allowed)
- Varicella
- Drug testing: Negative 9-panel within 30 days of start
- Flu seasonal vaccination/documentation or approved medical/religious exemption (flu season runs 10/1 to 3/31)
- Fingerprinting and addition to Illinois Department of Public Health Registry if no Illinois state license required (not applicable here since RN license is required)
- Completion of facility orientation modules prior to start (approx. 2 hours)
- Photo for badge (passport style, plain background, no headgear)
- Employment history verification for last 7 years
- Skills checklist updated annually for assigned and float units
- References: Minimum 2 required
Additional Notes
- Must be able to work in an urban, high-acuity Level I Trauma ED environment
- Weekend and floating shifts are mandatory
- No accommodation for block scheduling
- Candidates must be fully compliant with all health and background documentation prior to start
- COVID-19 and Influenza vaccine exemptions require facility-specific forms and approval
This position is ideal for ER RNs with at least 1 year of experience in a Level I Trauma ED setting who are comfortable with rotating clinic locations and flexible scheduling including weekends and floating.
