Job Opportunity: Emergency Room Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Harvey, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Details

• Role: Registered Nurse - Emergency Room (ER)
• Work Setting: Rotating between 3 offsite clinics in the area
• Patient Ratio: 1:4
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Floating Requirement: Yes
• Charting System: Epic
• Block Schedule: Not accommodated

• Return to Office Restrictions: Maximum 7 days

Required Experience & Qualifications

• Years of Experience: Minimum 1 year in specialty
• Specialty Experience: Must have prior experience in an urban, Level I Trauma Emergency Department; experience in a teaching hospital preferred
• Prior Travel Experience: Not required (first-timers accepted)

Required Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)

Preferred Certifications:

• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)

License Requirements

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Illinois
• Pending licenses are NOT accepted

Background & Compliance Requirements

• 7-year background check including aliases and multiple databases
• Education verification (ADN or BSN required)
• State license primary source verification within 30 days of assignment start
• NURSYS verification for RN license within 30 days of start
• Drug testing: Negative 9-panel within 30 days of start
• Physical exam within 1 year, updated annually
• Fit mask test within 1 year of start (specific mask types required)
• Immunizations and titers required within 2 business days of contract signing:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (if positive TB)
  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (declination allowed)
  • Varicella
• Flu seasonal vaccination/documentation or approved exemption required for flu season

Additional Requirements

• Valid Driver’s License or State ID
• Photo for badge (passport style, plain background)
• Completion of facility orientation modules prior to start (approx. 2 hours)
• Employment history verification for last 7 years
• Skills checklist updated annually for assigned and float units
• References: 2 required
• COVID-19 and Influenza exemption forms available for religious or medical reasons (approval required)

Summary

This is a travel contract position for an ER Registered Nurse with at least 1 year of experience in a Level I Trauma urban emergency department. The role requires multiple certifications including BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and PALS, with preferred certifications in TNCC and CPI. The assignment is 13 weeks long, with weekend and floating requirements, and involves rotating between three clinics.
