Description

Job Opportunity: Certified Surgical Technologist - OR

Location: Bozeman, Montana
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

The Surgical Technologist functions as the scrub person in the operating room, working under the supervision of the surgeon and RN. Responsibilities include ensuring a safe OR environment, proper equipment function, and facilitating operative procedures to maximize patient safety. Expertise in surgical techniques, human anatomy, surgical procedures, and use of surgical tools and technologies is required.


Essential Job Functions

  • Prepare case carts according to preference cards and interpret these cards for instrument and supply procurement
  • Communicate with OR staff and sterile processing to coordinate instrumentation for scheduled and unscheduled cases
  • Review daily schedules with charge nurse and sterile processing coordinator to identify potential delays or scheduling issues
  • Manage core phone and communications, delegate duties, and coordinate breaks and lunches
  • Serve as a resource for SPD and Surgical Services regarding supply and instrumentation needs
  • Coordinate with materials management on supply utilization and deployment

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program or equivalent military surgical technologist program
  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Additional Information

  • Facility may cancel up to three shifts during the 13-week contract due to low census or unforeseen circumstances
  • Candidates must live at least 90 miles away from the facility to be considered
