Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Med/Surg Telemetry)
Location: Canton, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7pm - 7:30am)
- Specialty: Med/Surg Telemetry
- Minimum Experience: 18 months recent Med/Surg Telemetry experience required
- Must have Epic electronic health record experience
- Must work at least every other holiday
Required Licenses & Certifications
- Current Ohio RN license or compact state license in hand
- AHA BLS (Basic Life Support) required
- AHA ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) required
- NIH Stroke Certification must be obtained prior to start
- Pass ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate medication test during orientation (passing score required)
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 18 months recent Med/Surg Telemetry nursing experience
- Epic experience required
- One recent reference from a manager, ANM, supervisor, or director in the specialty is required for submission
- Must have current Ohio RN license or compact state license
- Pass required competency exams and assessments during orientation
Prior Travel Experience
- No explicit prior travel experience required
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam (required for new candidates signing after 4/11/2025)
- Fit mask test (N95) within 12 months of start, updated annually
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
- Required immunizations/vaccinations with official documentation:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (every 10 years)
- Measles (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
- Mumps (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
- Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
- Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (10/31 - 03/31)
- Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted)
Background & Compliance
- Background check required prior to start, including FCRA compliant 7-year search and education verification
- FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 12 months of start, updated annually
- Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
- Must complete all required onboarding modules prior to start (typically takes multiple days)
- Must complete annual competency exams and medication/pharmacology competency as applicable
References & Employment History
- Two references required from employment within one year of start, from a manager, ANM, supervisor, charge nurse, or director (co-worker references not accepted)
- Employment application must include at least 3 years prior work history, including 2 years clinical practice in an acute care setting in a similar area
Additional Notes
- Candidates must carry a government-issued photo ID while on assignment
- Candidates will complete ECG rhythm recognition and SafeMedicate testing during orientation; passing scores are mandatory
- Candidates must complete all required training modules on a computer using Google Chrome; modules cannot be completed on a phone
- Candidates with a gap in employment longer than 40 days may need to update physical and eye exams
- Facility accommodates latex allergies with notification
This position is ideal for experienced Med/Surg Telemetry RNs with strong clinical skills, Epic experience, and the ability to work night shifts in a fast-paced hospital environment.
