Description

Job Opportunity: LDRP - Days (Nursing)

Location: Moses Lake, Washington
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Summary

  • Function as both caregiver and care manager for a group of patients.
  • Implement the Nursing Process and oversee other caregivers through delegation, coordination, supervision, and evaluation of patient care outcomes.
  • Make sound judgment decisions related to patient care services.

Essential Functions

  • Perform patient assessments focusing on physiologic, psychosocial, and cognitive status.
  • Implement care according to established procedures, policies, and care plans.
  • Identify patient learning needs and provide patient teaching.
  • Document patient care accurately in electronic medical records or paper charts.
  • Delegate patient care activities and supervise assigned coworkers effectively.
  • Organize and prioritize tasks using critical thinking skills.
  • May function as Charge Nurse, including patient assignment delegation, coordinating staff coverage, and problem-solving.
  • Maintain professional growth through continuing education and professional affiliations.
  • Adhere to safety requirements including infection control, equipment use, and emergency procedures.
  • Conduct self professionally and maintain appropriate appearance standards.

Work Environment

  • Reports to Nursing Department Director, House Supervisor, Charge Nurse, and other supervisory staff.
  • Works closely with patients, physicians, and other clinicians to ensure optimal patient care and outcomes.

Required Qualifications

Education & Licensure

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current Washington State RN Licensure.

Certifications

  • Healthcare Provider (HCP) Level of Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire (AHA or equivalent).
  • For Mother Baby Unit (MBU):
    • AAP Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Advanced certification required prior to end of orientation and renewed every 2 years.
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification to be obtained within 6 months of hire and renewed every 2 years.
    • STABLE course completion within 6 months of orientation (optional), renewed every 2 years.
    • AWHONNs Intermediate Fetal Monitoring course (or NCC Electronic Fetal Monitoring) required within 3 months of L&D training and renewed every 2 years.
    • RN-C certification in specialty preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum 1 year of RN experience preferred in specialty nursing departments.
  • Experience as an acute care registered nurse preferred.

Skills & Competencies

  • Ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
  • Strong critical thinking and independent problem-solving skills.
  • Accountability and adherence to legal and ethical guidelines.
  • Crisis management skills.
  • Competency in caring for patients across the age continuum.
  • Competency with department-specific equipment.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent standing, walking, lifting, reaching, kneeling, bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling.
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 30 lbs and perform manual dexterity tasks for 8-12 hours per shift.
  • Physical strength to perform CPR and assist with lifting/pushing up to 300 pounds with assistance.
  • Mental acuity for assessment and decision-making in acute care.
  • Good eyesight for patient assessment and documentation.
  • Emotional stability to handle high stress and fast-paced environment.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with healthcare team, patients, and families.

Additional Information

  • Up to 24 hours of call off available during the assignment at no cost to the facility.
