Job Opportunity: Cath Lab Tech (Travel/Contract)

Location: Portland, Oregon
Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Position does not float between units
  • On-call required: Yes
    • One weeknight per week (6 PM - 7:30 AM)
    • Approximately every 5th weekend (Friday 6 PM to Monday 7:30 AM)
  • Weekends not required
  • Block schedules not required
  • Expected patient ratio: 1:1
  • Facility type: Short Term Acute Care

Required Experience

  • Must be an experienced traveler; no first-time travel assignments accepted
  • Preferred experience in stroke/cerebral angiograms, cardiac, and interventional radiology (IR) procedures
  • Specialty years of experience: Not explicitly stated, but higher experience implied due to preference for experienced travelers and specialty skills

Required Qualifications & Certifications

  • Current Cardiovascular Technologist (CVT) license or certification relevant to Cath Lab Tech role

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation)
  • Other certifications may be required based on clinical track (e.g., PALS, NRP, NIH Stroke Certification) – verify per clinical specialty
  • Must have valid state license for Oregon as applicable to Cath Lab Tech role

Prior Travel Experience

  • Prior travel experience is required; no first-time travel assignments accepted

Work Environment & Additional Requirements

  • Must be able to work on-call shifts as specified
  • May be required to float to other Providence facilities within a reasonable distance (float policy acknowledgment required)
  • Scrub color: Any color allowed
  • Parking: No fee

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Background check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
  • Drug screen: 10 panel within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
  • Immunizations and health documents required:
    • TDAP (Tetanus/Diphtheria) within 10 years or declination
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
    • Flu vaccine or declination during flu season
    • COVID vaccine or declination
  • Respirator clearance (RespSafety) required annually for travel candidates
  • References: Minimum 2 supervisor references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within last 3 years
  • Employment application covering at least last 5 years required

Training & Competency

  • Must complete Providence-specific WorkRamp modules prior to start, including:
    • Annual regulatory requirements
    • Specialty-specific modules for Oregon and Providence system
    • Epic training modules (for Epic charting system)
  • Competency exams and medication/pharmacology tests as applicable
  • Color blindness testing if required by unit

Scheduling & Shift Details

  • One weeknight on-call per week (6 PM - 7:30 AM)
  • On-call approximately every 5th weekend (Friday evening to Monday morning)
  • No weekend shifts required outside of on-call rotation
  • No block scheduling required
