Travel/Contract Registered Nurse (ICU) - Minnesota, Buffalo

Job Details

• Specialty: Registered Nurse (ICU, Special Care Unit/ICU & MedSurg)
• Location: Buffalo, Minnesota
• Employment Type: Travel/Contract
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: 8-hour shifts; Days (7am-3:30pm), Evenings (3pm-11:30pm), or Nights (11pm-7:30am)
• Schedule: 9 shifts in two weeks, working every other weekend; flexible to float between Special Care Unit/ICU and MedSurg as needed

Required Experience

• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience in specialty
• Accepts first-time travelers (no prior travel experience required)

Required Certifications

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or ARC only; RQI acceptable; certificate of completion not accepted
• BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC only; RQI acceptable; certificate of completion not accepted
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - Preferred, not required; AHA or ARC only; PEARS acceptable in lieu of PALS
• Other certifications may be required as applicable based on unit assignment (e.g., NRP, TNCC, EFM)

Required Licenses

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Minnesota

Preferred Skills

• IV Start skills preferred

Work Requirements

• Will float within scope between Special Care Unit/ICU and MedSurg as needed
• Must work every other weekend

Background and Compliance

• Criminal background check required within 1 year of start date (including MN statewide search, sex offender, and other standard checks)
• MN DHS Net Study Fingerprint clearance required prior to start (candidates cannot start with fingerprints pending unless a “more time needed” letter is provided)
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 1 year of start
• Physical exam within 12 months prior to start required
• Immunizations and health documents required:

  • Adult Tdap (no declinations accepted without exemption approval)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titers required
  • Hepatitis B immunity or vaccination series
  • Varicella immunity or vaccination series
  • Seasonal flu vaccination documentation required for 2025-2026 season (declinations accepted)
• OSHA Respiratory Safety clearance required prior to start for fit testing

Training and Orientation

• Completion of Allina Health preorientation online modules required within 72 hours of receiving login (3-9 hours depending on specialty)
• Badge photo (passport style) required within 48 hours of signing contract

Additional Requirements

• Medication and pharmacology competency exam required
• Skills checklist required annually
• References not required for client clearance but may be required for per diem

This position offers a flexible schedule with a focus on ICU and MedSurg nursing in a travel contract role, suitable for nurses with at least 1 year of experience and open to first-time travelers.
