Description

Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (MS/Telemetry)

Location: Garfield Heights, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Day shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM)
  • Minimum of 18 months recent Med/Surg Telemetry experience required
  • Must have 18 months permanent Med/Surg Telemetry experience prior to travel assignment
  • Must hold a permanent Ohio nursing license or a compact state license in hand
  • AHA BLS & ACLS certifications required
  • Willingness to obtain NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification prior to start
  • One recent reference from a manager, ANM, supervisor, or director in the specialty required (Charge RN references accepted)
  • ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate medication administration exam must be passed during orientation

Required Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse license valid in Ohio or compact state license
  • Minimum 18 months experience in Med/Surg Telemetry (highest required years of experience)
  • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Willingness to obtain NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification before starting
  • Recent professional reference in specialty area

Certifications & Competencies

  • BLS and ACLS (AHA or American Red Cross; RQI acceptable)
  • NIH Stroke Certification (AHA, Apex, AACME, or Bluecloud only; Healthstream not accepted)
  • Pass/Fail Testing during orientation:
    • Medication administration exam (SafeMedicate) with 90% passing score
    • ECG interpretation exam with 80% passing score
  • State License Primary Source Verification within 30 days of start
  • Nursys Verification within 30 days of start
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming ability to safely perform job functions
  • Fit Mask test (3M N95 1860 or 1870+) within 12 months of start, updated annually
  • Immunizations and health screenings including:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (every 10 years)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 12 months)
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or titer or declination
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
    • Seasonal Flu vaccination (required annually, no declinations accepted)
  • Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted)
  • Eye exam (Snellen) within 1 year of start

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID) required and must be carried on assignment
  • Background check including:
    • FCRA compliant 7-year search
    • SSN trace, counties, states, nationwide, sex offender registry, OFAC, FACIS Level 3, education verification
  • Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
  • FBI and BCI fingerprinting within 12 months of start, updated annually (code 4723.09 for nursing)
  • Fingerprinting must be completed within 48 hours of signed contract; facility will also conduct fingerprinting onsite
  • Physical exam must include latex allergy notification if applicable

References & Employment History

  • Two references required from employment within one year of start, from a manager, ANM, supervisor, charge nurse, or director (co-worker references not accepted)
  • Employment application must include at least 3 years prior work history with 2 years in acute care and similar specialty area

Orientation & Training

  • Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome)
  • Modules include onboarding and safety training; must be completed before clearance to start
  • SafeMedicate prep materials provided for medication exam during orientation

Additional Notes

  • Candidates can start with fingerprinting results pending as long as fingerprinting is completed prior to start
  • Candidates with gaps in employment or returning to the facility may have specific requirements for references and physical exams based on length of gap
  • Candidates must have legal name on all documents consistent and updated as needed

This position requires a highly qualified Registered Nurse with solid Med/Surg Telemetry experience, current certifications, and compliance with extensive health and background requirements.
