Job Opportunity: RN - Emergency Department
Location: Alamogordo, New Mexico
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking a competent Registered Nurse with recent experience in Emergency Department (ED) settings, including Level 1, 2, or 3 Trauma. The nurse will provide routine and complex care independently, managing a wide range of patients such as stroke, STEMI, Level I trauma, post-surgical complications, pregnancy complications, pediatrics, behavioral health, and other ED cases.
Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care consistent with ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
- Manage complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families.
- Administer medications and treatments following protocols; monitor for side effects and effectiveness.
- Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided.
- Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, families, and caregivers.
- Meet organizational competencies related to leadership and clinical practice.
Required Qualifications
Education & Licenses
- RN license in New Mexico or compact license.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
- Current BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), PALS (AHA), and TNCC certifications required.
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required, with most recent experience in ED trauma (Level 1, 2, or 3).
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
Other Requirements
- New hires must complete New Nurses Orientation within 30 days.
- Precepted onboarding with competency validation specific to Emergency Department.
- Completion of annual competency verification.
Work Schedule
- Multiple shifts available (in-time varies between 3pm - 7pm).
- Full-time position.
Patient Population
- Clinic-type patients, strokes, STEMIs, Level I traumas, post-surgical complications, pregnancy complications, pediatrics, behavioral health, and all Emergency Department cases.
