Description
Job Opportunity: Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN) - Travel/Contract
Location: Easton, Maryland
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights, 4 shifts of 12 hours (19:00 - 07:30)
Schedule: Every other weekend required (4 weekends in a 4 schedule cycle)
Holidays: Required as scheduled
Floating: Required within specialty, lower acuity, and sister location as needed
On-Call: Not required
Patient Population: Adult/Geriatric
Patient Diagnoses: Fast-paced, high census with a variety of diagnoses including complex multi-diagnoses
Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: Typically 1:5, up to 1:6 with lower acuity patients
Required Qualifications
- License: Maryland RN license
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Certification
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) – completed onsite during orientation
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of RN experience in telemetry or related acute care setting
- Prior Travel Experience: Not required; first-time travelers accepted
Job Details
- Telemetry RN position working night shifts
- Floating to lower acuity units and sister location as needed
- Fast-paced environment with a high volume census
- Patient care involves complex and multiple diagnoses
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history, education verification, and various federal/state screenings
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Negative drug screen (9 or 10 panel depending on facility) within 30-90 days of start
- Immunizations and titers required:
- TB testing (QGOLD, TSPOT, or 2-step PPD) updated annually
- Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (declinations not accepted)
- Hepatitis B, MMR, Varicella, Rubella, Rubeola, Mumps titers or vaccinations
- TDaP vaccine or signed declination
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start
- Two supervisory references within 1 year of start
- Verification of at least 2 years hospital or equivalent acute care experience within last 5 years
- Various competency exams including medication, dysrhythmia/EKG, and age-specific competencies (must score 80% or higher)
- Facility-specific documents such as confidentiality agreement, dress code review, badge photo, and orientation attendance
Additional Notes
- Orientation is held at the facility, typically on Tuesdays at 8 AM
- Dress code for orientation: Royal Blue scrubs or business casual
- CPI training module assigned prior to orientation and must be completed before start
- Floating may include coverage at a sister location in Chestertown
- Weekend and holiday coverage required as scheduled
