Job Opportunity: Cardiac Tele Registered Nurse
Location: Wilmington, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks (13 to 26 weeks accepted)
Shift: 12-hour nights (18:45 - 07:15)
Hours: 36 hours per week offered
Patient Population: Cardiac patients including Congestive Heart Failure, Arrhythmias, Post cardiac catheterization
Job Description
- Floating required as needed; potential to float every shift
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start
- Contract staff expected to participate in Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team; may be required to work during catastrophic events or disasters
- Unit monitors cardiac patients with cardiac drips such as Dobutamine, Amiodarone, Cardizem, Milrinone, Dopamine, etc.
- Procedures include sheath pulls, TR Bands, Femstop
- Unit systems: Pyxis, EPIC, SBAR
- Orientation: 24 hours
- Weekend requirement: 5-6 weekend shifts (about every other weekend)
- Scheduling: Self-scheduling per unit needs
Required Qualifications
- Specialty: Registered Nurse - Cardiac Telemetry
- Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years experience required
- Prior Travel Experience: Not required; 1st time travelers accepted
- Skills:
- Telemetry and PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown experience
- Interpretation of dysrhythmias and remote monitoring
- Pre/Post Cardiac Cath and Cardiac Surgery experience
- Sheath removal
- Accessing ports
- Blood product administration
- Central line and PICC line care management
- Cardiac drip titration (Diltiazem and Amiodarone)
- Certifications:
- ACLS (American Heart Association or American Red Cross) required
- Preferred:
- Charge nurse experience
- NIH Stroke Certification
Compliance & Screening Requirements
- Background checks including local, federal, national criminal databases, sex offender search, and education verification
- Drug screening within 30 days of start (10-panel, negative result required)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start (updated annually if past positive TB)
- Fit mask testing (N95 or PAPR training) within 1 year of start
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (titer or 2 vaccines)
- Hepatitis B titer or series or facility-specific declination form
- Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (seasonal requirement)
- TB testing: PPD, Qgold, or Tspot within 1 year; chest x-ray if positive
- EKG/Dysrhythmia competency exam required with minimum passing score of 82% (3 attempts allowed)
Orientation & Training
- 24-hour unit orientation required
- Non-Novant Health Worker Orientation required for North Carolina travel candidates (8-10 hours for acute care)
- Medication Safety training and certification required
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) training required if assigned to ER or Behavioral Health units
- Annual compliance and facility-specific education modules required
Additional Notes
- RTO (Return to Office) after booking is not allowed and cannot be worked out onsite; excessive call-offs may lead to cancellation
- Scrubs not provided
- Badge photo required prior to start (passport style, white background, business attire)
- Candidates must complete the Corp ID process and log into the I-Learn system within 24 hours of receiving credentials to avoid start delays
- Candidates may be required to work in multiple units as assigned during the contract
