Job Opportunity: Physical Therapist - Acute Care Hospital
Location: Alamosa, Colorado
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking a Physical Therapist for an acute care hospital setting. The position involves working Monday through Friday with a rotating weekend schedule approximately once every two months. Clinicians may be required to float within their scope to a nearby facility (15 minutes away).
Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience in specialty (Physical Therapy) required. Candidates with 1 year may be considered but less than 1 year will not be considered.
- First-time travelers accepted.
- Prior travel experience is not required.
Schedule & Hours
- Monday to Friday schedule.
- Weekend coverage on a rotating basis (approximately once every 2 months).
- Guaranteed 40 hours per week.
Licensure & Certifications
- Must have a valid Colorado state license or compact license for Physical Therapy.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) required.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) preferred.
- Pending licenses are not accepted; license must be in hand at time of submission.
Facility & Work Environment
- Acute Care Hospital with 49 staffed beds.
- Charting systems: OBix, McKesson, Pyxis, and SBAR.
- Free parking available.
- Scrub color: Any color allowed.
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background check within 90 days of start, including SS trace, county searches, nationwide sex offender check, and 7 years of residence/work history.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start (annual updates not required).
- Fit mask test within 12 months of start (can be completed on-site if needed).
- Negative TB test (T-Spot or QuantiFERON Gold) within 45 days of start; PPDs not accepted.
- Required immunizations/vaccinations or titers:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within last 10 years)
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (titer or vaccine series)
- Varicella (titer, vaccine, or history of disease)
- Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen with chain of custody within 30 days of start.
- Flu vaccination required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); declinations not accepted.
- Colorado CAPS (Child Abuse and Neglect) check results required prior to start.
Additional Notes
- No time off (RTO) allowed within the first two weeks of assignment; no more than 10 days total and no full calendar weeks off.
- Clinicians may be asked to float to a nearby facility as needed.
- Locals are accepted for this position.
This position is ideal for Physical Therapists with acute care experience looking for a travel contract in a supportive hospital environment with guaranteed hours and a manageable weekend rotation.
