Job Opportunity: Physical Therapist - Acute Care Hospital
Location: Alamosa, Colorado
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking a Physical Therapist for an acute care hospital setting. The position involves working Monday through Friday with a rotating weekend schedule approximately once every two months. Clinicians may be required to float within their scope to a nearby facility (15 minutes away).
Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience in specialty (Physical Therapy) required. Candidates with 1 year may be considered but anything less will not be accepted.
- First-time travelers are accepted.
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
Schedule & Hours
- Monday to Friday schedule
- Weekend coverage on a rotating basis (approximately once every 2 months)
- Guaranteed hours: 40 hours per week
Required Licenses & Certifications
- Must have a valid Colorado state license or compact license for Physical Therapy in hand before start.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) required (AHA or ARC).
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) preferred (AHA or ARC).
- Other certifications such as PALS and STABLE may be required depending on unit assignment.
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background check within 90 days of start, including SS trace, county searches, nationwide sex offender check, and 7 years of residence/work history.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start.
- Fit mask test within 12 months of start.
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within last 10 years)
- Negative TB test (T-Spot or QuantiFERON Gold within 45 days of start; PPD not accepted) or chest X-ray if prior positive TB
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
- Hepatitis B (titer or completed vaccine series)
- Varicella (titer, 2 vaccines, or history of disease)
- Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen with chain of custody within 30 days of start.
- Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); declinations not accepted.
- Colorado CAPS check results required prior to start.
Additional Information
- The position requires compliance with facility-specific competency exams and medication/pharmacology tests.
- No time off (RTO) allowed within the first two weeks of assignment; no full calendar weeks off allowed.
- Parking is free in any unrestricted space.
- Charting systems used include OBix, McKesson, Pyxis, and SBAR.
- Scrub color is flexible (any color allowed).
