Job Opportunity: Intermediate Medical Care (IMC) Registered Nurse
Location: Charlotte, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract

Job Summary
Seeking a Registered Nurse with recent ICU experience to work in an Intermediate Critical Care Unit. The unit provides specialized care for patients with conditions such as DKA, Sickle Cell, Sepsis, Respiratory Distress, Pneumonia, Heart Failure, Stroke, and stroke-like symptoms. The role includes rapid response duties and requires floating to Med Surg as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (IMC/ICU)
- Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience (highest requirement found)
- Prior Travel Experience: Not required; 1st time travelers accepted
- Certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support)
- Skills:
- IV Start
- Telemetry and Cardiac Telemetry
- Titration of Cardiac Drips
- Use of Rapid Response Teams
- Feeding Tube Management
- Heparin Protocols
- PCA (Patient Controlled Analgesia)
- CVA (Cerebrovascular Accident) care
- Preferred Skills:
- MS/Telemetry experience
- Titration of Vasoactive drips
- Care of Ventilated Patients
- Wound Care/Wound Vac
- Additional Requirements:
- Must pass EKG competency testing prior to start
- Float to Med Surg unit as needed (1:6 ratio)
- Weekend shifts: minimum 4 per 6-week schedule
- Scrubs: Navy or Navy and White
Work Details
- Shift: 12-hour nights (18:45 - 07:15)
- Hours: 36 hours per week offered
- Patient Ratio: 1:4 on IMC unit; 1:6 when floating to Med Surg
- Orientation: 36 hours
- Unit Systems: PYXSIS, EPIC
- Special Equipment: Bipap, Cpap, Optiflow
- Scheduling: Self-schedule with staff approval
- Patient Diagnoses: DKA, Sickle Cell, Sepsis, Respiratory Distress, Pneumonia, Heart Failure, Stroke, and stroke-like symptoms
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Background checks within 6 months
- Drug testing within 6 months (9-panel acceptable)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (or proof of past positive with documentation)
- Required immunizations and titers: Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
- Flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season
- Physical exam (as per travel agency standards)
- Medication Safety training and other facility-specific mandatory education
- Competency exams including Dysrhythmia/EKG competency (must score 82% or higher)
- Color Blind Testing within 1 year
- Various facility-specific forms and agreements (confidentiality, tobacco-free campus, etc.)
Notes
- No Return to Office (RTO) after booking allowed; missed shifts must be made up within the same week or added to the end of the contract
- Floating to Med Surg required as needed
- Must have recent ICU experience
- Self-scheduling with staff approval
- Navy or Navy and White scrubs required
