Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse

Location: San Angelo, Texas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Start date options: March 9 or March 23
• Hybrid schedule with rotating shifts: 0630-1500 or 1030-1900
• 8-hour shifts with rotating days off
• Shift rotation includes days, mid-shifts, weekdays, weekends, and holiday calls
• Fast-paced Operating Room environment
• Specialty areas include general, neuro, ortho, trauma, robotics

Required Qualifications

• Registered Nurse license valid in Texas
• Minimum 5 years of OR nursing experience preferred (may consider less with strong specialty experience)
• Prior travel experience strongly preferred (not explicitly required but highly valued)

Certifications Required

• ACLS (AHA or ARC accepted)
• BLS (AHA or ARC accepted)
• PALS (AHA or ARC accepted; ICU RNs have 1 year to obtain for longer assignments)
• NRP (as applicable)
• TNCC (required for ER; ICU RNs have 1 year to obtain for longer assignments)
• EFM (as applicable)
• NIH Stroke Certification (required for ICU and PCU)
• Chemotherapy certification (as applicable)
• ENPC (as applicable)
• Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement (annual update required)
• Pass/Fail Testing (medication administration, restraint, glucometer, etc.)

Background and Compliance Requirements

• 7-year background check required within 30 days of start
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
• Education verification required
• NURSYS verification required within 30 days of start
• State license verification required within 30 days of start
• Drug testing required within 30 days of start (includes multiple substances)
• Physical exam required within 1 year of start (must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing)
• Fit test required within 6 months prior to start (annual updates required)
• Immunizations and titers required:

  • TDAP (within 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 1 year)
  • TB questionnaire annually
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or vaccination)
  • Hepatitis B (positive titer or series with declination form)
  • Varicella (positive titer, vaccination, or proof of disease)
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season (10/31-3/31)
  • COVID initial series required (boosters not required)

• Government-issued photo ID required
• Social Security card required
• Clear passport-style photo for badge
• Completion of facility-specific forms prior to start (health record, code of conduct, confidentiality, orientation, etc.)
• Two professional references within 3 years
• Resume or employment application required
• Annual skills checklist update required

Summary

This is a 13-week travel contract for an experienced Operating Room Registered Nurse in a fast-paced environment with rotating shifts. A minimum of 5 years OR experience is preferred, with strong specialty experience considered. Prior travel experience is strongly preferred. Multiple certifications and compliance documents are required, along with immunizations and background checks.
