Job Opportunity: MS/Tele Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Durham, North Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (MS/Tele)
- Schedule: No blocked schedule requests
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Patient Ratios: 1:4
- Scrubs Color: Royal Blue
- Orientation: Bi-weekly
- Flu Vaccine: Required, no exemptions or declinations accepted
- Local candidates within 75 miles considered at a reduced rate
- First-time travelers are welcome
- Local candidates are also accepted
Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years of recent experience in MS/Tele specialty
- Also accepting RNs with Emergency Department (ED) or Clinical Evaluation Unit backgrounds
- EPIC charting experience required
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) preferred; training provided onsite if not currently held
Licensure
- Must hold a current North Carolina RN license or a Compact RN license
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Must meet all job requirements and qualifications related to MS/Tele nursing
- Must be able to meet patient care ratios and weekend requirements

- Not explicitly required
Health & Compliance Requirements
- Flu vaccination required (no exemptions)
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination every 10 years
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella vaccinations or positive antibody titers required (no exemptions)
- Hepatitis B vaccination, titer, or declination required
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer required
- Seasonal flu vaccination required for new candidates starting October through March
- Drug screening: Negative 10-panel within 30 days of start (instant tests not accepted)
Background & Documentation Requirements
- Background check within 90 days of start, including SSN trace, county, alias, nationwide, sex offender, international (if applicable), and education verification
- E-Verify or attestation required
- Social Security card required if used for I9 verification
- Driver’s license or government-issued photo ID required
- Employment application and references (2 professional references from last 12 months, including at least 1 supervisor)
- Skills checklist updated annually
- Competency exam required (unit-specific)
- Duke Guest Account setup required prior to clearance for access to orientation and work systems
Additional Notes
- Candidates must complete all required online modules prior to orientation
- Competency checklists (CBOs) must be completed within 3 weeks after start date
- CPI training provided onsite if not currently held
- Orientation and onboarding details provided prior to start date
- No blocked schedule requests allowed
- Weekend coverage every other weekend required
