Job Opportunity: Medical Technologist (Laboratory)

Location: Washington, District Of Columbia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Shift: 5 days a week, 8 hours per day (07:00 - 15:30)
• Weekend Requirement: Work every other weekend
• Float Requirement: None

Required Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum 2 years in hospital clinical laboratory
• Specialty Experience:

  • Experience with CellaVision, Roche Cobas, Siemens Dimensions
  • Blood specimen storage, hazardous materials handling, MSDS knowledge
  • Proper disposal, labeling, and quality assurance protocols
  • Knowledge of immunology/serology (C3, C4, total Complement)
  • Pregnancy testing (urine or blood), rapid test kits
  • Controls, RPR (rapid plasma reagin)
  • Hematology/coagulation knowledge
  • Urinalysis (manual macroscopic and microscopic UA)
• Certification: ASCP or ASCP-MLS certification highly preferred
• Prior Travel Experience: Successful completion of at least 1 prior travel assignment required
• Vaccination: Flu vaccination required for all travelers

Required Licenses & Certifications

• Valid state license for Medical Technologist (Laboratory) discipline
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (AHA or ARC)

Additional Requirements

• Criminal background check within 90 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
• Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana)
• Immunization and health documentation including:

  • Annual physical exam confirming ability to work without accommodations and free from communicable disease
  • N95 fit test within 9 months of start (updated annually)
  • TB test (IGRA or PPD) within 1 year, updated annually
  • Documentation of MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, and other required immunizations or titers
• Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Sept-Mar)
• Completion of facility-specific modules and orientation prior to start

References & Work History

• Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years
• Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education and license information

Summary

This is a travel contract position for a Medical Technologist with a 13-week assignment in Washington, DC. The role requires a minimum of 2 years of hospital clinical laboratory experience, prior travel experience, and relevant certifications. The position includes weekend work every other week and requires compliance with strict health, background, and immunization standards.
