Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse
Location: Seneca, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Nights (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
- Call and Float: Required
- Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend
- Patient Ratios:
- 1:1 with labor patients
- 1:2 with cytotec inductions
- 1:1 with magnesium patients
- 1:3 with couplet (mother-baby) care
- 1:1 if baby goes to sick nursery
- Unit Responsibilities:
- LDRP with nursery responsibilities
- Cross-trained to labor and delivery, circulator role, acute care nursery, and OB triage
- Care for GYN surgery patients
- Perform hearing screenings
- Medication System: Omnicell
- Charting System: EPIC (1 year experience required)
- Floating: Floating to other units or campuses as needed, limited to qualified areas with documented competencies
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in South Carolina
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience, including experience within the last year
- ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NRP certification
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification
- Lactation Certificate
- Experience with EPIC charting system
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Background check within 12 months including 7-year history and alias searches
- Drug screening within 1 year, updated annually (5 panel minimum)
- Physical exam within 1 year attesting ability to meet physical demands
- Immunizations and/or titers required:
- TB test (True 2-step PPD, Quantiferon Gold, or Tspot within 90 days)
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines (second vaccine may be pending within 28 days)
- Hepatitis B vaccination series, positive titer, or signed declination
- Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines (second vaccine may be pending within 28 days)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within last 10 years (if working in high-risk areas)
- Seasonal Flu vaccine or approved exemption (not required for remote workers)
- Respirator Fit Test to be completed onsite during orientation
- Photo for badge with specific background and quality requirements
- Education verification and license primary source verification within 30 days of start
- Completion of online orientation modules within 72 hours of assignment
- Annual competency exams and medication/pharmacology competency exam
Additional Notes
- Floating is required but limited to qualified units
- Medication and arrhythmia testing required prior to start; two attempts allowed with no remediation
- Online modules and testing are mandatory before clearance to start
- Badge photo must meet strict guidelines and be submitted timely
- Facility is Baby Friendly and requires lactation certification
- Candidates with less than 2 years of experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis
