Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Telemetry
Location: Wilmington, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximate)
Job Summary
Seeking a Registered Nurse with telemetry and cardiac care experience for a 13 to 26 week travel contract. Floating is required as needed, with potential to float every shift. Night shifts only (12-hour shifts, 18:45 - 07:15), approximately 36 hours per week. Weekend work is required approximately every other weekend (5-6 weekend shifts).
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of Med Surg / Telemetry experience, with at least some experience within the last year
- Experience in PCU (Progressive Care Unit), DOU (Direct Observation Unit), Intermediate Care, or Stepdown units
- ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing
- Proficient in interpretation of dysrhythmias and remote monitoring
- Experience with post cardiac catheterization care
- Skilled in accessing ports and blood product administration
- Competent in central line and PICC line management
- Ability to titrate cardiac drips including Diltiazem and Amiodarone
Preferred Qualifications
- Charge nurse experience
- NIH Stroke Certification
Unit Details
- Patient Ratios: 1:6-7
- Unit monitors cardiac patients with cardiac drips such as Dobutamine, Amiodarone, Cardizem, Milrinone, Dopamine, etc.
- Procedures include sheath pulls, TR bands, Femstop
- Documentation and medication systems: Pyxis, EPIC, SBAR
- Orientation: 24 hours
Scheduling & Work Conditions
- Self-scheduling per unit needs
- Night shifts only (12-hour shifts)
- Weekend shifts approximately every other weekend
- Must participate in Storm/Hurricane Team and may be required to report during catastrophic events or disasters
- RTO (Request Time Off) after booking is not allowed and cannot be worked out onsite; excessive call-offs may lead to cancellation
Required Background & Health Checks
- Criminal background check within 90 days for all locations lived in the last 7 years
- Education verification for highest degree earned (RNs may start with pending verification if license is valid)
- Drug screening within 30 days of start (10-panel, negative result required)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start (30 days if past positive TB)
- Fit mask testing (N95 or PAPR training) within 1 year of start
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray as applicable
- Required immunizations or titers: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (facility-specific declination form if titer negative/equivocal)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (9/1 - 10/31)
- State-specific healthcare personnel registry and medical assistance exclusion searches within 90 days prior to start

- Corp ID process completion (account setup and I-Learn login)
Competency Exams
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (must score 82% or higher; 3 attempts allowed with remediation process)
- Medication/Pharmacology competency as applicable
- Color Blind Testing within 1 year via Relias
Additional Notes
- Scrubs are not provided
- Must interview with Nurse Manager prior to finalizing offer
- Candidates must be prepared to work in a cardiac telemetry unit with complex cardiac patients and drips
- Floating is mandatory as needed
