Job Description

• Provide care for patients boarded in the ER holding area.
• Stepdown skillset required for the ER Holding Unit.
• Patient types include cardiac, neuro, ortho, and critical care.
• RN responsibilities include reading and saving telemetry strips (Spacelabs monitors).
• Respiratory Therapists (RT) handle vents, CPAP, BiPAP, high flow, ABGs, and breathing treatments; RN troubleshooting only.
• X-ray and CT available in ER with dedicated techs for transport.
• No phlebotomy performed by RNs in the ER.
• Security is in-house 24/7 in the ER.
• Separate psych/seclusion rooms available.

Required Qualifications

• Active Georgia or Compact RN license.
• BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA).
• Minimum of 2 years recent PCU experience OR 1 year PCU with 1+ years experience in Telemetry, ER, or ICU.
• Must have successfully completed at least 1 previous travel assignment (prior travel experience required).
• References should be from recent assignments.

Schedule & Orientation

• 12-hour day shifts.
• Weekend requirement: At least 6 weekend days/nights in a 6-week schedule (approximately every other weekend).
• Holiday shifts based on department needs.
• No call, standby, or floating requirements.
• Department-specific orientation during the first week of the contract.
• Dress code: Navy scrubs.

Contract Length

• Approximately 14 weeks.

Additional Notes

• 100-mile radius rule strictly enforced (driver’s license required).
• Nurse-to-patient ratio typically 1:4-5, adjusted for acuity.
