Job Opportunity: ER Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Flagstaff, Arizona
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Discipline: Registered Nurse (RN)
- Specialty: Emergency Room (ER)
- Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, Night shift (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
- Patient Ratios: Typically 4:1 (based on acuity)
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week (facility may call off up to 6 shifts during the 13-week assignment)
- Floating: None required
- Blocked Scheduling: Not accommodated
- Locals Accepted: Yes
- RTO Restrictions: Unit manager approval required

Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Arizona
- Minimum 3 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, with at least some experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
Prior Travel Experience
- First-time travelers accepted (prior travel experience not required)
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history, SSN trace, sex offender search, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG within 30 days of start
- Drug testing: 10-panel within 30 days of start, updated annually
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, confirming ability to perform essential job functions
- Fit mask test (N95) within 1 year of start, updated annually (PAPR not an option)
- Immunizations and titers required or declinations accepted with facility-specific forms:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (preferred within 10 years)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (proof of immunity or 2 MMR vaccines)
- Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
- Varicella (proof of immunity or 2 vaccines)
- Seasonal Flu vaccine or signed declination form (mask required if declined)
- COVID vaccine series or declination with facility-specific form
- Negative TB test (PPD, Q Gold, or T-spot) within 1 year, updated annually; chest x-ray and questionnaire required for past positives
- Competency exams and medication/pharmacology competency within 1 year of start, minimum passing score 80%
- Fall Prevention Competency Exam required for all RNs starting 9/8/2025 or later
- Color Blind Testing required for all candidates starting 1/19/2026 or later (100% passing score)
Additional Requirements
- Two professional references required (one from most recent employer within 1 year, second within 2 years)
- Employment application covering last 3 years with documented gaps over 30 days
- Facility-specific job description form must be completed prior to start
- Security question form and travel information verification form must be signed prior to start
- Professional attire and appearance policy must be reviewed and signed prior to start
- Workforce member confidentiality agreement and substance abuse screening policy must be reviewed and signed prior to start
- Photo for badge required (clear headshot preferred)

- Unit manager approval required for return to office (RTO) requests
- Facility allows RN to wear any scrub color
This position offers a great opportunity for experienced ER RNs looking for a travel contract in a Level I trauma teaching hospital setting with night shifts and weekend requirements. First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply.
