Job Opportunity: Medical Surgical Float - Registered Nurse

Job Details

• Shift: 12-hour nights
• Facility Type: Short Term Acute Care, Major Teaching Hospital, Level II Trauma Center
• Total Staffed Beds: 330
• Charting System: Cerner
• Scrub Color: Black scrubs (or facility T-shirt); surgery requires changing into provided surgery scrubs
• Parking: Free for travelers

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid RN license in West Virginia
• Minimum 1 year of Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Required Background Checks & Verifications

• Government issued photo ID (must be carried during hours of service)
• 7-year criminal background check within 1 year, updated annually
• Background check within 30 days of start (including international if applicable)
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
• NURSYS verification for RN license
• Primary source verification of state license

Required Health Documents & Immunizations

• Initial physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years
• Negative TB test (PPD, Qgold, or Tspot) within 1 year; annual TB questionnaire required
• Measles (Rubeola) immunity: positive titer or 2 vaccines (2nd booster can pend at start)
• Mumps immunity: positive titer or 2 vaccines (2nd booster can pend at start)
• Rubella immunity: positive titer or 2 vaccines (2nd booster can pend at start)
• Hepatitis B: titer, vaccine series, or declination
• Varicella immunity: positive titer or 2 vaccines (2nd booster can pend at start)
• Drug screen within 30 days of start (must include specific substances and confirmation values)
• Seasonal flu vaccination required annually (declinations not accepted unless approved medical or religious exemption)
• COVID-19 seasonal vaccine required; initial series preferred; declination form required if opting out

Facility-Specific Requirements

• Completion of facility orientation and annual education modules prior to or within 1 week of start
• Completion of confidentiality agreement, attestation forms, and IT access agreements before start
• N95 fit test completed onsite at orientation (male candidates must be clean-shaven)
• Facility-specific exemption forms for flu and COVID vaccines must be approved prior to start

Additional Requirements

• Proof of 2 clinical references (hospital evaluations accepted)
• Completion of skills checklist and competency exams as applicable
• Performance evaluations required if previously employed with the facility for over 1 year

This position is traveler-friendly and suitable for nurses new to travel assignments.
