Job Opportunity: CVOR Tech (Surgical Services)
Location: Greenville, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Position requires certification from NBSTSA and CST credential.
- AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is mandatory.
- Call requirement: At least two call days per week and 1-2 weekends every 6-week schedule depending on need.
- Shift: 4 days per week, 10-hour day shifts.
- First scrub experience requested; FA certification not required.
- Start date: Approximately 3 weeks after contract signing.
- Locals accepted if within 100 miles (at reduced rate).
- No pending licenses accepted.
- Facility allows calling off 1 shift per 2 weeks.
- Floating policy: Staff must float to other units/campuses as needed, only to units where qualified and competent.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a CVOR Technologist, with experience within the last year.
- Certification from NBSTSA and CST credential.
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Must have valid state license appropriate for CVOR Tech role (no pending licenses accepted).
- First scrub experience preferred.
- Ability to take call as required.
Certifications & Training Requirements
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC only, valid at start.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or ARC only, if required by unit.
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - if applicable.
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - AHA Advanced only, if applicable.
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - if applicable.
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) - AWHONN required as applicable.
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement including HIPAA training (valid within 90 days of start).
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (annual).
- Core Competency Training (Parts I, II, III) annually, including OSHA, patient safety, and ethical care.
- Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) for RN candidates as applicable.
- Floating Policy acknowledgment (annual).
Compliance & Background Requirements
- 7-year background check within 12 months of start, including alias and multi-state searches.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and every 30 days thereafter.
- Drug screening within 1 year of start, updated annually (5-panel minimum).
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, attesting ability to meet physical demands.
- Immunizations and health screenings:
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days of start.
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years if working in high-risk areas.
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required.
- Hepatitis B vaccination series, positive titer, or signed declination.
- Seasonal Flu vaccine or approved exemption required by deadlines (not required for 100% remote).
- Fingerprinting required if applicable (not onsite; must be completed prior to start).
Additional Requirements
- Driver’s license required immediately upon signing for computer access and must be carried on duty.
- Badge photo required prior to start (passport style, plain background, no alterations).
- Completion of online Cornerstone modules within 72 hours of assignment (approx. 12 hours).
- Resume/application with 7-year work history required.
- Skills checklist and internal evaluations required if applicable.
Work Environment & Other Notes
- Free parking available.
- Facility is latex-free; latex allergies are acceptable.
- Respirator fit testing (N95) completed onsite during orientation.
- Floating to other units required based on census and staffing needs.
- Guaranteed hours with limited call-offs allowed.
Prior Travel Experience
- No explicit prior travel experience required.
This position is ideal for a CVOR Tech with at least 1 year of surgical services experience, who holds NBSTSA certification and CST credential, and is comfortable with call responsibilities and floating within a hospital system.
