Job Summary
Anesthesia Technician responsible for comprehensive support to anesthesia providers in the operating room and other clinical areas. Duties include preoperative preparation, intraoperative support, postoperative care, emergency response, and maintenance of anesthesia equipment and supplies to ensure safe and efficient patient care.

Primary Responsibilities
- Preoperative Duties: Prepare and set up anesthesia equipment (ventilators, monitors, infusion pumps), assemble and test anesthesia machines, organize medications and airway tools, restock anesthesia supply carts, maintain sterile and safety standards.
- Intraoperative Support: Assist with patient positioning, airway management, intubation/extubation, monitor anesthesia equipment, assist with blood transfusions and medication administration, facilitate room turnovers including cleaning and restocking.
- Postoperative Duties: Clean and restock anesthesia equipment, assist with patient recovery and transfer, dispose of biohazardous waste, document equipment maintenance and malfunctions.
- Emergency Response: Provide immediate assistance during emergencies (cardiac arrest, respiratory distress), supply emergency equipment, support resuscitation efforts, maintain emergency cart readiness.
- Monitoring Equipment Management: Set up and troubleshoot monitoring devices (EKG, blood pressure monitors, pulse oximetry, capnography), assist with invasive monitoring lines, provide transport monitors, escalate issues as needed.
- Anesthesia Gas Machine Management: Maintain and troubleshoot anesthesia gas machines, perform daily quality control including leak testing and calibration, replace sodalime, ensure oxygen sensor functionality.
- Sterile Field Preparation: Adhere to sterile techniques, assist in maintaining sterile fields during procedures, demonstrate proper gowning and gloving.
- Intravenous Therapy Support: Prepare and manage blood/fluid warming setups, assist with arterial and central line placements, manage hotline and cell saver systems.
- Stock and Supply Management: Maintain anesthesia supply levels across ORs and emergency carts, restock various anesthesia carts.
- Mobile Case Support: Assist anesthesia providers in off-site cases (cardiac cath lab, MRI, interventional radiology, CT scan, ICU, labor & delivery).
- Induction/Intubation Assistance: Prepare intubation equipment, assist with difficult airway cases, perform cricoid pressure as needed.
- Pediatric Anesthesia Support: Operate pediatric anesthesia equipment, assist in pediatric IV placement and airway management, ensure appropriately sized pediatric equipment.
- General Responsibilities: Maintain compliance with safety protocols, stay updated on anesthesia technology, train and mentor staff, respond promptly to anesthesia personnel requests.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of experience as an Anesthesia Technician, including experience within the last year
- Experience working with pediatric patients
- Certification as an Anesthesia Technician (required)
- BLS/ACLS certification (preferred)
- Strong knowledge of anesthesia equipment, procedures, and sterile techniques
- Proficiency in troubleshooting and minor maintenance of anesthesia machines and monitoring systems
- Excellent organizational, time-management, and communication skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
