Job Opportunity: Stepdown Cardiac Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Manchester, New Hampshire
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Overview

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse
  • Unit: ED Holding / Cardiac Intermediate Care Unit (CICU) level holds in the Emergency Department
  • Care for inpatient/CICU level patients held in the ED
  • Strong Progressive Care Unit (PCU) background required within the last year
  • Emergency Department (ED) experience preferred but not required

Required Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience (must have strong PCU experience within the last year)
  • First-time travelers accepted only if they have EPIC experience and 2 years of experience
  • No first-timers accepted with only 1 year of experience

Work Schedule

  • Weekend requirement: Every other weekend (EOW)

Required Certifications

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA Provider only
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA Provider only
  • EKG test on arrival

Required Licensure

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in New Hampshire

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Hampshire
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Minimum 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, with PCU experience within the last year
  • Experience in an inpatient setting
  • ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Experience managing and titrating drips

Prior Travel Experience

  • Not explicitly required

Additional Requirements

  • Background check within 30 days of start (includes Social Security Verification, National Sex Offender Registry, Criminal Searches, etc.)
  • Drug screening (10-panel) within 14 days prior to start
  • Physical exam within 1 year prior to start
  • Fit mask test (annual) required for clinical candidates
  • Immunizations and health documents required:
    • Tdap (within last 10 years)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
    • Flu vaccination required during flu season (Oct 31 - Apr 1) or approved exemption
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) immunity or vaccination
    • Varicella immunity or vaccination
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or waiver
  • Respiratory Safety Clearance required
  • Pass/fail Basic Dysrhythmia EKG exam may be required depending on unit assignment
  • Two current professional references within last 3 years, including one from a supervisor or charge RN
  • Skills checklist and employment application required
  • Annual internal evaluation required for travelers with Aya or agency for 1+ year

Summary

This is a travel/contract RN position in New Hampshire for a Stepdown Cardiac unit with a focus on ED holding patients requiring CICU level care. Candidates must have at least 2 years of nursing experience with strong PCU background, ACLS and BLS certifications, and be comfortable managing drips and specialized cardiac equipment. First-time travelers are accepted only with EPIC experience and 2 years of experience. The contract length is approximately 13 weeks with every other weekend shifts required. Comprehensive background checks, immunizations, and competency exams are mandatory for clearance.
