Job Opportunity: Temporary Registered Nurse (RN) - Labor & Delivery (L&D) (Nights)

Job Description

• Perform head-to-toe patient assessments and reassessments per policy.
• Assess and reassess pain using appropriate evaluation methods; utilize pain management techniques and educate patients/families.
• Develop, revise, and evaluate plans of care daily based on patient response.
• Provide age-appropriate care considering principles of growth and development.
• Administer medications correctly according to patient age and clinical condition, following the five medication rights.
• Formulate and activate teaching plans; evaluate learning effectiveness including family involvement.
• Perform technical and manual nursing skills within scope of licensure; seek guidance when needed.
• Treat patients and families with respect and dignity; address psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and spiritual needs.
• Serve as liaison between administration, patients, physicians, and healthcare providers.
• Maintain a safe environment to reduce medical/healthcare errors.
• Collaborate with other departments for interdisciplinary patient care.
• Communicate clearly with unit director, co-workers, and physicians.
• Maintain good working relationships within the unit and other departments.
• Coordinate with Care Coordination for in-hospital and post-discharge plans.
• Ensure documentation meets current standards and policies.
• Safely operate and manage equipment.
• Coordinate and supervise patient care as necessary.
• Demonstrate flexibility, organization, and ability to function in stressful situations.
• Maintain annual competencies, including bedside blood glucose waived testing.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of Labor & Delivery (L&D) experience.
• Postpartum and nursery experience required.
• Current ACLS (AHA) certification.
• Current BLS (AHA) certification.
• Current NRP certification.
• Active Ohio RN license or compact RN license at time of submission.

Preferred Qualifications

• BSN degree preferred.

Additional Information

• COVID vaccination card required if vaccinated.
• Work week: Sunday through Saturday.
• EMR system used: Meditech.

Summary

This is a temporary RN position in Labor & Delivery requiring at least 1 year of L&D experience, postpartum and nursery experience, and current ACLS, BLS, and NRP certifications. The role involves comprehensive patient care, interdisciplinary collaboration, and maintaining high standards of clinical practice in a fast-paced environment.
