Job Opportunity: Ultrasound Technologist (Sonographer)

Employment Type: Contractor
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Operate ultrasound equipment to perform general and vascular ultrasound procedures/studies.
• Differentiate accurately between normal and pathologic findings.
• Review patient medical records, including history, lab results, and physician orders, to ensure exam accuracy.
• Position patients and select appropriate transducers and technical factors for ultrasound imaging.
• Use sonographic skills to identify, record, and adapt procedures based on anatomical and diagnostic information.
• Label images accurately with patient identifiers and scan location.
• Maintain records according to regulatory standards and document billing codes.
• Identify equipment performance issues and communicate with staff.
• Analyze sonograms and medical history, and communicate findings to physicians.
• Provide age-appropriate care, understanding growth and development principles across the lifespan.

Required Qualifications

• Competency in general and vascular sonographic procedures.
• Ability to use independent judgment to differentiate normal vs. pathologic findings.
• Knowledge of aseptic techniques.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective patient and caregiver interaction.
• Adherence to department and organizational policies and protocols.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, work independently, and manage multiple assignments.
• Flexibility in schedule and adaptability to change.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, and twist throughout the workday.
• Lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist; lift up to 20 lbs. overhead; carry up to 40 lbs.
• Push/pull with 30 lbs. of force.
• Perform sliding transfers of 150 lbs. with assistance.
• Clear speech, vision, and hearing required.
• Potential exposure to mechanical, electrical, chemical, radiation hazards, and blood/body fluids; personal protective equipment must be worn as necessary.
