Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Ortho Specialty)

Location: Greensboro, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Shift: 3x12 hour shifts, Nights (7 PM - 7 AM), Every Other Weekend (EOW), Holiday rotation
• Call: No call required
• Patient Ratio: 1:6 (possible stretch to 1:7)
• Specialty Focus: Orthopedic and Trauma nursing
• Patient Types: Elective and trauma patients, specializing in pre-op and post-op ortho care
• Procedures: Total hip, knee, and shoulder replacements and repairs; ortho trauma
• Equipment: Use of safe patient handling equipment and ortho-specific devices such as CPM, knee immobilizer, bone foam, etc.
• Technology: EPIC electronic health record system required
• Team: Use of Rapid Response Teams

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
• Minimum 2 years of orthopedic nursing experience, including ortho trauma experience
• Orthopedic nursing experience within the last year
• Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Medication Administration Badge (MAB)
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License/State ID)
• Social Security Card
• Background check within 60 days covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
• Education verification (Associate’s degree in nursing or higher)
• Transcript/Diploma as proof of highest education
• Physical exam (if applicable)
• Immunizations and health documents including:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
  • Hepatitis B titer or declination
  • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption
• Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 40 days of start
• Fingerprinting (if applicable for position)
• References: Two supervisory references required from recent assignments
• Employment application/resume with 7-year work history
• Work history verification for last 5 years
• Skills checklist updated annually

Additional Requirements

• Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
• Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing (EPIC and Dysrhythmia/EKG)
• Medication/Pharmacology competency exams as applicable
• Color Blind Testing (if applicable)
• Competency exams with minimum passing scores
• Facility-specific documents including dress code, floating policy, contractor equipment acknowledgement, and onboarding tasks

Summary

This is a travel contract opportunity for an experienced orthopedic RN with at least 2 years of ortho/trauma experience and prior travel contract experience. The role requires night shifts with a focus on pre-op and post-op orthopedic patients, including trauma cases. Candidates must be proficient with EPIC and meet strict compliance, licensing, certification, and immunization requirements.
