Job Opportunity: RN - PCU (Progressive Care Unit)

Location: Franklin, North Carolina

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Facility Overview

• New 30-bed critical access hospital with state-of-the-art facilities
• Includes 3 ORs, dedicated endoscopy and radiology spaces
• 17-bed emergency department with two trauma bays
• Outpatient services: wound clinic, full laboratory, digital mammography, CT, MRI, nuclear medicine, physical/occupational/speech therapy
• Recognized as an Acute Stroke Ready hospital with multiple honors from American Heart Association and Stroke Association

Unit Information

• Unit: Acute Care, Floor 2
• Number of Beds: 30
• Staffing:

  • Day Shift: 4-5 RNs, 2-3 Patient Care Technicians (PCTs)
  • Night Shift: 4-5 RNs, 2-3 PCTs
• Patient Ratios:

  • Med Surg: 6:1 (occasionally 7:1)
  • ICU/Step Down: 4:1 (more step down patients than ICU)
• EMR System: Cerner

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, including within the last year
• Experience in Stepdown, Intermediate Care, Surgical ICU Stepdown, or Direct Observation Unit (DOU) settings
• Experience in an Acute Care setting
• Completion of at least one prior travel nursing assignment
• Certifications:

  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS)

Additional Information

• Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• Weekend and on-call requirements: Minimum every other weekend
• Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs
• Desired Personality Traits: Outgoing, strong teamwork skills

This position is ideal for experienced RNs with progressive care or ICU background who have prior travel experience and are looking to work in a modern, well-equipped hospital setting.
