Job Opportunity: CVICU Registered Nurse

Location: Paramus, New Jersey
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Floating required to ICU, IMC, and helping hands as needed.
  • Experience with ECMO and Open Heart procedures preferred.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in New Jersey.
  • Minimum 1 year of CVICU experience within the last year.
  • Experience in ICU (Intensive Care Unit) and Intermediate Care (IMC).
  • ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).

Experience

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (CVICU)
  • Required years of experience: Not explicitly stated; assume minimum 1 year CVICU or critical care experience based on specialty.

Certifications & Competencies

  • ACLS and BLS certifications mandatory.
  • Pass/fail testing onsite for telemetry competency and medication exam required.
  • Core Competency Exams (Parts I, II, III) must be completed annually with a passing score of 80% or better.
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam required annually with 80% pass rate (exemptions apply for some units, but not CVICU).
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement required.
  • Valley Health - ECG Foundations for ECG Interpretation Relias exam required (except for certain units; CVICU included).

Health & Compliance Requirements

  • Physical exam within 72 hours of contract signing, signed by MD, DO, PA, or NP.
  • Fit mask test (N95) within 72 hours of contract signing; annual expiration required.
  • Negative 9-panel drug test within 72 hours of contract signing.
  • Immunizations and titers required within 72 hours of contract signing:
    • COVID-19 (initial series and booster, no exemptions)
    • Flu vaccine (mandatory, no religious or medical declinations accepted)
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) proof or titers
    • Varicella proof or titer
    • Hepatitis B surface antibody or declination
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap preferred but not required
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 72 hours of contract signing.

Background & Verification

  • 7-year background check including national and state checks, sex offender, OIG, SAM.gov, OFAC sanctions.
  • Employment verification for the last 7 years required, must be completed 2 Fridays prior to start date.
  • Two professional references required: one supervisory within 12 months, one professional within 3 years.
  • Education verification required; diploma can be used as placeholder if pending.

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must complete Valley Health self-learning modules and post-tests prior to start.
  • Pass/fail testing onsite with one attempt allowed; failure results in contract cancellation.
  • Floating between ICU, IMC, and helping hands units is required.

This position is ideal for experienced CVICU RNs comfortable with critical care, ECMO, and open heart patient care, who are flexible to float across related units.
