Job Opportunity: Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse (WOCN) - Registered Nurse (RN)
Location: Baltimore, Maryland
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 12 weeks
Shift: Days, Monday to Friday, 5x8 hours (08:00 - 16:30)
Start Date: March 30, 2026
Job Description
- Provide inpatient wound, ostomy, and continence care as part of the wound care team.
- Participate in daily rounds on 4 to 5 units.
- Patient population includes all age groups.
- Typical patient diagnoses: pressure injuries, chronic/acute wounds, ostomies.
- Average patient census: approximately 15 per day.
- Floating within the specialty to downtown campus may be required.
- Holidays required as scheduled; weekends not required.
- On-call not required.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Maryland.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Minimum 1 year of wound care experience, including experience within the last year.
- Experience in an inpatient setting.
- Wound Care Certification (WCC).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history, education verification, and various federal/state screenings.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray as per facility policy.
- Required immunizations/vaccinations or proof of immunity:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (if working with children)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR)
- Hepatitis B (positive titer or declination accepted)
- Varicella
- Seasonal Flu vaccine or approved exemption (2025-26 season)
- Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start.
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start.
- Two supervisory references within 1 year of start.
- Employment application/resume within 30 days of start.
- Work history verification for previous 5 years.
- Maryland State Exclusions List check within 30 days of start.
Additional Information
- No weekend shifts required.
- Floating may be required within specialty units.
- Holidays worked as scheduled.
- Patient care involves a multidisciplinary wound care team.
- Candidates must complete facility-specific documents such as confidentiality agreements, dress code review, and badge application prior to start.
