Job Opportunity: Physical Therapist (Inpatient)

Location: East Sandwich, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 12 weeks

Job Summary

• Assist patients in reaching maximum physical performance while adjusting to disabilities.
• Restore patient physical functioning by interpreting physical therapy evaluations and test results.
• Determine physical therapy treatment goals and plans.
• Administer manual exercises and instruct, encourage, and assist patients in physical activities and use of assistive/supportive devices.
• Complete billing sheets accurately by end of day.
• Evaluate treatment effects at various stages and adjust treatments to maximize benefit.
• Perform patient assessments and establish plans of care.
• Provide in-service education programs for nursing personnel as needed.
• Identify and document goals, anticipated progress, and plans for reevaluation.
• Discuss evaluation, goals, and treatment with patients and families.
• Participate in hospital-wide quality process improvement.
• Supervise Physical Therapist Assistants (PTAs) according to policy and state regulations.

Required Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited physical therapy program.
• Licensure requirements:

  • For licensure prior to 2016, a bachelor's or master's degree is acceptable.
  • Licensure from 2016 onward requires completion of a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program.
• Current Physical Therapist license valid in Massachusetts (implied by job specialty and location).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA preferred).
• N95 fit testing within 365 days of start date, updated annually (no onsite fit testing; must be completed prior).
• Documentation of required immunizations and health screenings including:

  • MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) vaccination or proof of immunity.
  • Influenza vaccine during flu season (no exemptions allowed).
  • TB screening within 3 months of start date (skin test or blood test), updated if >6 month break.
  • Health statement signed by MD/DO/NP/PA within 365 days of start date.
• Criminal background checks including:

  • Massachusetts CORI check.
  • National sex offender registry check.
  • Exclusion checks (OIG, GSA, Medicaid exclusion lists).
• Resume including past 7 years of work experience with city and state.
• Two professional references within 4 years, including at least one supervisor or higher.
• Skills checklist completed within 1 year of submission.
• Education verification of highest degree achieved.
• Respirator Medical Clearance attestation if fit testing is required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Hepatitis B vaccination or proof of immunity (declination accepted).
• Tdap vaccination within 10 years.

Additional Information

• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.
• Supervision of PTAs is part of the role.
• Participation in hospital quality improvement initiatives expected.
