Description

Job Opportunity: Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Tyler, Texas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

Patient ratio: 1:6
Float required
Unit serves medical surgical patients including neurology and neurosurgical diagnoses
Patient age range: young adult through geriatric
Unit equipped with telemetry and oximetry monitoring

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Texas
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Minimum 2 years of Medical Surgical nursing experience, including experience within the last year
One completed travel assignment
Experience working with adult and geriatric patients
BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

Background checks including 7-year history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG
Education verification (transcript/diploma acceptable if verification pending)
Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
Physical exam within 12 months of start
Fit mask test within 1 year of start (annual renewal required)
Immunizations and titers:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 1 year)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or 2 vaccines)
- Hepatitis B (positive titer, series, or declination)
- Varicella (positive titer, 2 vaccines, or documented history)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption (required during flu season)
Competency exams and medication/pharmacology testing as applicable
Color blindness testing (online acceptable)
Unit-specific skills checklist (annual)
Complete employment application/resume
Work history verification (7 years)
