Job Opportunity: Cath Lab Tech (Radiology / Cardiology)
Location: Charlotte, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Structural Heart Scrub Experience is mandatory. Candidates without this experience will not be considered.
- Travelers may start on Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday of the first week and must be fully available with no other commitments to accommodate schedule changes during orientation. Missing any portion of orientation may delay or cancel the start.
- Orientation start date is subject to change based on class and trainer availability. Final start date confirmed the Tuesday prior to the start week.
- Scrubs are provided.
Required Skills and Experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience in the specialty.
- Structural Heart & TAVR scrub experience is a must.
- Cath Lab procedure experience including:
- Balloon Angioplasty
- PCI
- Stents
- Thrombectomy
- Impella insertion
- Left & Right Heart Catheterization
- Rotablader
- Skills: Scrub, Monitor, PA Lines and Telemetry.
- Certifications: ACLS, BLS, and at least one of the following: RCIS or ARRT.
- Prior travel experience not required; first-time travelers are accepted.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Circulate, IV Start, Conscious Sedation.
- Experience with Watchman Procedures, Septal Closure, Ablations, Coil Embolization, Filter Placement.
- Rhythm Interpretation and EKG settings experience.
Work Schedule and Requirements
- Shift: 4 x 10-hour days, Monday to Friday, 07:00 - 17:30.
- Call Requirement: Callback and weekend call required (9-11 days in a 6-week schedule with 1-2 weekends depending on rotation).
- Float Requirement: Rare, but may float to Electrophysiology (EP) occasionally.
- Target patient ratio: 3 rooms.
- Unit Systems: EPIC, MAC Lab.
Special Procedures / Unit Details
- The unit performs complex PCI procedures and other advanced cath lab interventions.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Cath Lab Technologist license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of Cath Lab Technologist experience, including experience within the last year
- Valid certifications: ACLS, BLS, and either RCIS or ARRT
- Scrub, Monitor, PA Lines, and Telemetry experience
- Structural Heart scrub experience mandatory
- Experience with Balloon Angioplasty, PCI, Stents, Thrombectomy, and Impella insertion
- Ability to work scheduled shifts and call requirements
Orientation and Onboarding Notes
- Full availability required during orientation week with no other commitments.
- Missing any orientation portion may delay or cancel the start.
- Scrubs provided by the facility.
Compliance and Documentation Requirements (Summary)
- Background check within 6 months of start.
- Drug testing within 6 months of start.
- Required health documents including TB test, immunizations (Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella), and flu vaccination or exemption.
- Various facility-specific forms and training modules including confidentiality agreement, medication safety, and hospital policies acknowledgment.
- Competency exams including Dysrhythmia/EKG competency required within 72 hours of start.
- Radiation badge required for Cath Lab staff.
Additional Notes
- No Return to Office (RTO) after booking is allowed and cannot be worked out onsite. Any call-offs or additional RTO may result in cancellation.
- Candidates must be prepared for possible schedule changes and flexible start dates.
This position is ideal for Cath Lab Techs with strong structural heart scrub experience looking for a 13-week travel assignment in North Carolina with a reputable healthcare system.
