Job Opportunity: Sleep Technologist
Location: Grand Junction, Colorado
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Provide patient care for sleep study patients.
- Perform sleep studies by applying electrodes, belts, and sensors; conduct bio-calibration; monitor polysomnograms; split studies when criteria are met.
- Administer therapy oxygen, CPAP, or BiPAP as indicated by policy.
- Conclude studies by reviewing data with patients, cleaning and storing equipment, and preparing rooms for the next study.
- Stage and score sleep study data according to AASM guidelines, identifying sleep disorders such as RERA, hypopnea, and apnea.
- Document patient records and prepare patient notes including tests, therapy responses, side effects, and patient/family education.
- Review physician orders and patient charts including lab work, diagnostics, consultations, and nursing notes.
- Complete billing within 24 hours of service.
- Provide teaching and mentoring to patients, students, and ancillary professionals.
- Educate patients on the use of oxygen, CPAP, BiPAP, common side effects, and terminology.
- Communicate with DME staff and other Respiratory Therapists to ensure continuity of care and patient safety.
- Assist in teaching students and share knowledge to improve patient care and satisfaction.
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in Polysomnographic Technology, Respiratory Therapy, or related field required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- CPSGT credential required.
- RPSGT credential must be obtained within 18 months of acquiring CPSGT.
- Current BLS certification required.
