Job Opportunity: Med/Surg Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN) - Travel/Contract

Location: Warrensville Heights, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Shift: Night shifts, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each

Job Description

• Position: Med/Surg Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN)
• Work setting: Med/Surg Telemetry unit
• Schedule: Night shifts, 3 shifts of 12 hours each per week
• Must work at least every other holiday
• ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate medication administration exam required during orientation (passing scores required)

Required Experience

• Minimum of 18 months recent and permanent Med/Surg Telemetry nursing experience
• Higher experience requirement applies if discrepancies found (18 months here)

Required Licenses & Certifications

• Ohio RN license or Compact State RN license (must have in hand)
• AHA BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
• AHA ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification

Required Qualifications & Compliance

• Valid RN license in Ohio
• Minimum 1.5 years of Med Surg / Telemetry nursing experience, with experience within the last year
• ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID) required
• Background checks including FCRA compliant 7-year search, education verification, fingerprinting (FBI and BCI) within 12 months, updated annually
• Fingerprinting must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing; facility will also conduct fingerprinting onsite
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, confirming ability to safely perform job functions
• Fit mask test (N95) within 12 months, updated annually
• Immunizations and health requirements including:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (every 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 12 months)
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers
  • Hepatitis B vaccination or titer or declination
  • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
  • Seasonal flu vaccination (no declinations accepted)
• Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually
• Eye exam (Snellen) within 1 year of start
• References: 2 professional references from recent employment within 1 year (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director)
• Employment application with 3 years prior work history including at least 2 years clinical practice in acute care and similar area

Orientation & Testing

• Medication administration exam (SafeMedicate) and ECG interpretation exam during orientation; passing scores required (90% medication, 80% ECG)
• PBDS Assessment waived
• Online training modules must be completed prior to start (cannot be done on phone, must use Google Chrome)
• Modules include facility-specific training and must be completed for clearance to start
• Candidates with less than 6 months gap between Cleveland Clinic assignments may have some orientation requirements waived

• Candidates must be prepared to work at least every other holiday
• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position
