Job Opportunity: Certified OR Tech / Surgical Tech (CST)

Location: Walla Walla, Washington
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

Seeking a Certified OR Tech / Surgical Tech with prior travel experience for a travel contract position. The role involves working in Surgical Services with primary services including General, Orthopedic, Neuro, GYN, OB (C/S), ENT, Plastics, Vascular, and Eyes. Shifts are 8 or 10 hours, variable between day and evening.


Key Details

  • Prior Travel Experience: Required (No first-time travelers)
  • Floating: No floating between units
  • On-Call: Yes, 1 weekday per week and 1 weekend every 4-6 weeks (call only)
  • Weekends: Call only
  • Expected Ratios: 1:1
  • Callback Time: 20 minutes, must stay within callback time when on call
  • Shift Length: 8 or 10 hour shifts, variable day/evening
  • Charting System: Epic
  • Facility Type: Short Term Acute Care / Level III Trauma Center
  • Total Staffed Beds: 104
  • Scrub Color: Any color allowed on all units

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Certified Surgical Technologist license in Washington
  • Certified Surgical Technologist with at least 1 year of experience
  • Surgical Technologist experience within the last year
  • Completion of at least one travel assignment as a Surgical Technologist

Certifications (Must be current and valid)

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure)
  • Chemotherapy certification (if applicable)
  • Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification (if applicable)
  • IV Certification (if applicable)
  • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) (if applicable)
  • NIH Stroke Certification (if applicable)
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) (if applicable)

Note: Certification requirements may vary based on clinical track and specialty.


Required Health Documents

  • Physical Exam within 1 year of start
  • Fit Mask test (annual, travel only)
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years or declination
  • Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray within 12 months, updated annually
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer or declination
  • Hepatitis B vaccination series or signed declination
  • Varicella vaccination or positive titer or declination
  • 10 Panel Drug Screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
  • Seasonal Flu Vaccine or declination during flu season
  • COVID vaccine or declination
  • Respiratory Safety Clearance (annual for travel)

Background and Compliance Requirements

  • Background check within 45 days of start covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
  • Education verification required
  • Employment application covering last 5 years (7 years for APN/Subcontractors)
  • Minimum of 2 references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting (6 months for CNAs)
  • State-specific searches and registry checks as required by Washington State law
  • Various facility-specific and regional compliance modules and training must be completed annually via WorkRamp LMS platform

  • No 48-hour shifts approved
  • Parking: No fee
  • Badge photo required (passport style with neutral background)
  • Must comply with float policy acknowledgment (may be required to float to other Providence facilities within reasonable distance)

This position is ideal for experienced Surgical Techs with prior travel assignments who are comfortable with on-call responsibilities and working in a Level III Trauma Center environment.
