Description

Job Opportunity: Behavioral Health Registered Nurse (RN)

Location: Garfield Heights, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Behavioral Health RN for 7pm-7:30am shift
  • Must have 18 months of recent behavioral health experience in an acute care setting (non-psychiatric facility)
  • Must have 18 months permanent experience in short-term acute care hospital (non-psychiatric) before travel
  • Responsibilities include milieu management, medication management, assessments, and documentation

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio
  • Minimum 1.5 years of Behavioral Health nursing experience, including experience within the last year
  • Experience in an Acute Care setting
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Certifications & Training Requirements

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or American Red Cross (must be current)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - Required for many specialties but not specifically required for Behavioral Health
  • Other certifications such as PALS, NRP, TNCC, CNOR, CHEMO, NIH Stroke Certification are not required for this role
  • Completion of facility-specific onboarding modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome)

Background & Health Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried on assignment
  • Background check including FCRA compliant 7-year search, fingerprinting (FBI and BCI) within 12 months, updated annually
  • Fingerprinting must be completed within 48 hours of signed contract; candidates can start with results pending if fingerprinting is completed prior to start
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, including assessment of ability to safely perform job functions
  • Fit mask test (3M N95) within 12 months, updated annually
  • Immunizations and health screenings required:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (every 10 years)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (annual updates)
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or declination
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
    • Seasonal flu vaccination (no declinations accepted) or approved medical/religious exemption
  • Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually
  • Eye exam (Snellen) within 1 year of start

Documentation & Compliance

  • Employment application with at least 3 years prior work history including 2 years clinical practice in acute care and similar area
  • Two professional references from within one year of start date (manager, supervisor, director, or charge nurse)
  • State-specific fingerprint attestation for Ohio (BCI/FBI)
  • Baseline competency exams (medication administration and ECG) required at orientation
  • Physical and health documents must be current and compliant with facility policies

Additional Notes

  • Candidates with gaps in employment longer than 30-40 days may need to update physical and eye exams
  • Candidates must complete all onboarding modules prior to clearance to start
  • Facility requires strict adherence to all listed requirements; no exceptions
