Job Opportunity: Behavioral Health Registered Nurse (RN) - Nights

Location: Centreville, Illinois
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

The Behavioral Health RN manages and coordinates nursing care activities during client hospitalization, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The RN directs and is responsible for other personnel involved in client care and maintains professional accountability for all nursing care provided. This role involves working with clients aged 18 years and older.


Essential Functions and Duties

  • Organize and coordinate nursing care delivery for assigned clients
  • Direct others in healthcare delivery
  • Provide direct client care as required, following department and organizational policies
  • Communicate effectively, requiring regular talking and hearing
  • Stand for 4-6 hours during shifts
  • Maintain concentrated attention and visual focus
  • Perform nursing assignments appropriate to skill levels of staff
  • Implement physician orders accurately and promptly
  • Prepare, administer, and document medications per policy
  • Comply with infection control policies and procedures
  • Provide emergency care as needed
  • Participate in orientation and in-service training
  • Evaluate personnel performance and recommend actions
  • Maintain confidentiality, privacy, safety, and security of clients
  • Adapt to changes in work assignments and environment
  • Conduct group therapies and participate in multidisciplinary treatment planning
  • Monitor clients continuously for safety and contraband
  • Attend required trainings, meetings, and participate in process improvement activities
  • Establish collaborative relationships with physicians and healthcare team members
  • Promote harmonious relationships among healthcare team and customers
  • Support and demonstrate organizational mission and philosophy

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
  • Current Illinois RN license
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
  • CPI Nonviolent Crisis Intervention with Advanced Physical Skills (APS) certification required
  • Demonstrated clinical competence and responsibility for personal and professional growth
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds, bend, stoop, walk, and use good body mechanics to prevent injury

Physical Demands

  • Grasping and reaching with hands and arms
  • Standing for extended periods (4-6 hours)
  • Lifting and assisting clients up to 25 pounds
  • Bending, stooping, and walking

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred or equivalent years of experience
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment and computer software (MS Office, Meditech)

Additional Information

  • Prior travel experience is not specified as required for this position.
  • This is a night shift role in Behavioral Health Services.

This position requires a dedicated Behavioral Health RN with strong clinical skills, crisis intervention certification, and the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
