Job Opportunity: Emergency Room Registered Nurse (ER RN)
Location: Orangeburg, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (ER)
- Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (Nights, 7 PM - 7 AM)
- Patient Ratios: Based on acuity
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- On-call: Not applicable
- Floating: Required to float within scope to meet facility and department needs, including sister units/facilities
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in South Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience, with at least some experience within the last year
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association
- PALS certification issued by American Heart Association
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Additional Requirements
- Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required; first-time travelers accepted if they have ER experience
- Background Checks: Comprehensive background checks including SSN trace, criminal, sex offender registry, FACIS, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and state-specific searches
- Education Verification: Required; diploma or transcripts accepted as placeholder if verification is pending
- Competency Exams: Medication/pharmacology competency exam and general competency exam required
- Color Blind Testing: Required prior to start
- References: Proof of 2 clinical references (hospital evaluations accepted)
- Employment History: Verification of last 3 clinical employers required
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical Exam: Initial and annual physical exam attesting ability to meet job demands
- Immunizations & Titers:
- Tdap within 10 years or declination form
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or vaccination series with boosters if needed
- Varicella: Positive titer or vaccination series with boosters if needed
- Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccine series, or declination required
- TB Testing: Negative T-spot or Q-Gold within 90 days of start; chest x-ray if prior positive test
- Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
- Flu Vaccination: Required during flu season (Aug 1 - Apr 30); medical/religious exemptions accepted but no declinations
- COVID-19 Vaccination: Not required but highly preferred; vaccination records must be uploaded or declination form completed
- Respirator Clearance: Annual medical clearance required for respirator use
Orientation & Facility Specifics
- Orientation Modules: Must be completed prior to start; estimated 4-6 hours for this location
- Photo for Badge: Clear, passport-style photo with solid light background required before start
- Epic Charting System: Used for documentation
- Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off 1 shift every 2 weeks
- Hurricane Season: Travelers may be assigned to emergency response teams during June-November; consider this before accepting assignment

- Facility is an acute care hospital with 286 staffed beds
This position is ideal for ER RNs with at least 2 years of experience, who are comfortable working night shifts and floating as needed, and who have current SC or compact RN licensure along with required AHA certifications and Epic experience.
