Job Opportunity: Physical Therapist (Rehabilitation Therapy)
Location: Delta, Colorado
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Summary
Under the supervision of the Rehabilitation Services Director, the Staff Therapist is responsible for administering Physical Therapy to patients ranging from pediatric to geriatric. The primary goal is to improve patients' functional abilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and interpret evaluations and test results to develop physical therapy treatment plans in consultation with physicians or by prescription.
- Assist patients in accomplishing treatment plans and using therapeutic devices through manual and nonmanual exercises, ambulatory functional activities, and daily living activities.
- Administer physical therapy treatments including massages, traction, physical agents, hydrotherapy, moist packs, ultraviolet and infrared lamps, and ultrasound machines.
- Supervise treatments given by aides, technicians, and assistants.
- Evaluate patient progress and fit of prosthetic and orthotic devices; recommend adjustments as needed.
- Participate in discharge planning and collaborate with healthcare team members.
- Design home exercise programs and instruct patients, families, and caregivers.
- Document patient care services accurately in records.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and a safe, clean working environment.
- Adhere to infection-control policies and protocols.
- Ensure proper operation and maintenance of therapy equipment.
- Maintain professional knowledge through continuing education and professional development.
- Provide training and development for physical therapy staff.
- Comply with federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements.
- Contribute to team efforts as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Physical Therapy License issued by the State of Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Knowledge of diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation principles for physical and mental dysfunctions.
- Understanding of human behavior, motivation, and psychological research methods relevant to therapy.
- Skills in customer service, including needs assessment and quality standards.
- Proficiency in English language structure, composition, and grammar.
- Knowledge of curriculum and training design, teaching methods, and evaluation of training effectiveness.
