Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist (RRT) – Adults and Pediatrics

Location: Christiansburg, Virginia

Job Summary

Seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to provide respiratory care for both adult and pediatric patients. The position involves working 3 shifts of 12 hours each (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM), every other week (EOW).

Required Qualifications

Licensure and Experience

• Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license in Virginia
• Minimum of 1 year of Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
• Completion of at least one travel assignment

Certifications

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA only
• BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA only
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – AHA only
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – AHA only

Clinical Experience and Skills

• Experience working with both adult and pediatric patients
• Proficient in aerosol and medication delivery systems
• Experience managing aspiration, COVID, and pneumonia
• Skilled in airway management including extubation, intubation assist, oral/nasal airway placement, and suctioning
• Experience with Epic charting system

Work Schedule & Requirements

• Shift: 3x12 hour shifts, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM, every other week
• Must work one holiday per 13-week contract
• Floating within skillset may be required
• Charting experience with EPIC required

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Physical exam within 1 year, free from communicable diseases
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
• Fit test within 1 year, updated annually
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
• Immunizations or positive titers for: Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
• Background checks including 7-year history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG
• Education verification and transcript/diploma required
• Professional photo for badge
• Completion of facility-specific orientation and compliance documents

Additional Notes

• Local candidates are not accepted due to radius restrictions.
• All requests for time off must be submitted with application.
• Facility allows calling off 1 shift per 2 weeks.

This position is ideal for experienced respiratory therapists with prior travel assignments who are comfortable working critical care shifts with both adult and pediatric populations.
